2012 Goal Met

I challenged myself at the beggining of 2012 to beat # of days bike commuting to work from the previous year.
2011 Days = 129
2012 Days = 144

Im happy to have met my goal, though I may have set the bar too high.  I started 2013 with only 1 day in January due to vacation and snow.

Puerto Rico Frame of Mind

We recently returned from a week in the Spanish Virgin Islands, staying on Vieques, Puerto Rico.  After 9 months of anticipation, the week lived up to my dreams.  We had the most relaxing, fun time a family could have.  Of course the kids were so great traveling but it seemed our whole trip went smooth as butter.  No flight delays, no illnesses, no injuries and no whining. We just covered our white selves with sunscreen and played on the beautiful beaches.  We enjoyed our days swimming, playing Frisbee, building sand castles, surfing, and snorkeling amongst other things.  Also experienced another night on the bio luminescent bay.  Our accommodations couldn't have been better, the locals were friendly and the weather was perfect.  We all left the island wishing we could stay feeling thankful for the opportunity to enjoy a vacation and looking forward to a return trip.

White Rim 2012

After much anticipation and lots of bullying, I managed to get my Dad and a few friends to join me on the White Rim 100 mile bike ride in Canyonlands NP.  The weather and group couldn't have been better, though a little slower riding by Chester and less sand would have been nice.
The day prior to beginning the trek, we hiked to see the sun set on Delicate Arch along with every other tourist in Moab.

We talked on the drive about how we never see any big animals in the desert.  Then we saw this Bighorn sheep later in the day.

Squash me

It's time to reap the benefits of spring planting. This is my first year planting spaghetti squash and it seems to be producing better than all other vegetables planted this year. I haven't been able to find worm castings locally, thus no side dressing this year. I'm thinking it's affecting my production but also attributing some of the slow production to the constant and excessive heat. Our tomato stealing dog isn't helping much either.

The before and after

Finally getting around to this.
