Ricky Sighting

For those trailer park boys fans out there.

I rounded the corner in my office the other day and came across this guy. It took me a moment to realize it wasn't Ricky. Though I do wonder if Derek has a secret Ricky shirt hook-up?

White Rim Trip Report

This past weekend I set out with 10 others on a mountain biking/camping trip through the backcountry of Canyonlands National Park. Scott mentioned the trip last year after receiving a permit for October 09, leaving me in anticipation for a year. We drove to Moab Friday night for a quick start Saturday morning.

After getting paperwork completed at the park office, it was time for the Schafer trail, a fat bikers dream(downhill = no pedaling).

Some don't care to walk across this arch (me). Others show off while in such a precarious spot.

After seeing the number of pictures Jim was shooting, I decided to put my camera down and wait for a CD from him post trip.Though I did manage one more picture of Chet and Shannon at the alleged Colorado/Green River confluence. Look at Scott save his PBR from sure death if it were to fall over the 1000' cliff next to him.
We rode out Monday afternoon after three days of easy pedaling, great scenery and good memories. This trip ranks high on the list of good times this year.

Mommy gone

With Mom tending to MawMaw for the weekend, I got my share of entertaining two wild and happy kids for a few days. I tried my best to tire them each day with hiking, fishing and bike riding. We had a great time together but were so happy when mommy came back on Monday. Many thanks to the other moms who helped me out by watching the kids last weekend.

Sean and Mia more interested in "driving the boat" since the fish weren't biting. Thanks again to Bart for taking us out to Willard bay.

Denver Rocks

As previously noted, we recently enjoyed a family vacation to Denver and Colorado Springs following my business trip. I met up with some friends for mountain biking in Denver so they could put SLC trails to shame. I was extremely disappointed to discover Denver MTB trails are not cleared of all rocks (SLC trails are smooth and buff). Riding a 1995 Gary Fisher hardtail with the front fork locked out, I got to experience the toughness of Denver rocks. Unfortunately, my shoulder lost the battle against those rocks, leaving me with torn ligaments. I'm now three weeks since riding a bike and about to go stir crazy. Now that I have regained some use of my left arm, I hope to get back on my bike this week. In the meantime, more pictures of Sean and Gracie.

Getting along, for a short time anyway
